What is a WWOOFer? WWOOFers are Willing Workers on Organic Farms, a concept based on the principle of working for a host organic farm in exchange for food and board, rather than earning money. Wwoofing has become increasingly popular throughout the world in recent years, as it offers an alternative lifestyle choice, for many people in the 'rat race', it is the opportunity for freedom and simple living. It is a rewarding way to see and learn about the world and is a genuinely life-changing experience for many. To find out more please visit www.wwoof.org
Why WWOOF with us? Wwoofing with the EcoNorfolk Foundation is a unique opportunity to be a part of an exciting new eco village, the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow showcase project based right here on Norfolk Island. The project is in its initial stages, and we are offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be involved in this pivotal project. The EPCOT showcase is one of the most exciting projects in the South Pacific and is also becoming known as of one of the most important research centres in the region, and we want you to be involved! Our Wwoofers will be based usually at this project, but soon will have the opportunity to be based elsewhere on the Island as well.
Our previous and current WWOOFers
Our Wwoofers have come from all around the world and have included individuals from Japan, Slovenia, Germany, and Sweden; all of whom taking up the challenge to preserve and nurture Norfolk Island's unique environment. Our Wwoofers come from different backgrounds and have been with us for various amounts of time, some staying weeks and others crucial to the project staying several months.
How do I become a WWOOFer with EcoNorfolk? The EcoNorfolk Foundation hosts Wwoofers from the International WWOOF Foundation year-round, and as space is limited, Wwoofers are hosted on an invitation-only basis. To become a wwoofer with EcoNorfolk or to find out more go to www.wwoof.org or contact us.
