Woofing on Norfolk Island – amazing experiences!

The most satisfying result of my stay on Norfolk Island was that at the end I was clearly able to see where my effort had gone.

In cooperation with fellow WWOOFer Marko Prestor from Slovenia , the EcoNorfolk property had changed; it looked more ordered, more presentable and every day I could see my contribution to the workings of and on the property.

I would generally do research in the morning and ‘wwoofing’ in the afternoon while I watched the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. My work activities included wood splitting, removing and clearing vegetation, watering the garden surrounding the house, whippersnipping, maintenance and general house duties. It was a pleasure to be simultaneously in contact with the place and people of Norfolk Island , mainly using a bicycle which gave me much exercise, as well as being in touch with nature through hard physical work, something often lacking on research trips.

Kaito is working on organic farm, hehe. In Denise & Wayne's house, peaple are very kind, peaceful like my own family !!
This is my socond home I guess !

After my introductory period to the island which involved meeting a lot of local people in relevant educational, cultural and environmental spheres like (Beef) Buffett - I spent time working with other nationalities from Sweden and Germany

It was a big challenge and a big experience to come to Norfolk Island. Iam very delighted to made the acquaintance to Denise and Wayne. Thank you for all the nice Days and Evennings we had.

I was growing up in a big town in Germany "KÖLN", thats why it is interesting for me to experience how peopel live and behave to each other at that kind of small Island. Iam wondering my self how it is to grow up and to life in that kind of environment. Surroundet from the sea and such variety Botanik. I just know about that from special Magazins and special made Botanik Gardening Museum. I could be for a short Periode a piece of all that. I have always this Picture in my head about big big trees which a cradle slowly up and down in the wind and the sound of the sea. The fresh salty air ! The sound of nothing !And the Sound of the Birds.

This Impressions accompany me everyday and iam very appreciate about this . Its my private Treasure.
My mainwork as a woofer was taking care about the trees ,wood splitting, Removing and clearing vegetation, watering the garden, whippersnipping and of course general houswork.
This stay was very inspired and I will come back one Day!
If I ever will own a Dschungle ,now I know how to handle this.
